Caring for your Xero Shoes

To clean your Xero Shoes, hand wash with warm water, mild soap and allow them to air dry.
We do not recommend putting your Xeros in the washing machine or dryer.

Z-Trek

How do I get the right size for my Z-Trek?

Use the templates that are linked on this page (next to where you select the size, and in the product description).

NOTE: Please measure your foot and/or use the templates. Sandal size is very often different than shoe size.

What if the Z-Trek is too long for me?

There are 54 different foot shapes. And no product will fit everyone perfectly.

If you’re not sure you have the right size, drop us an email with some photos (top, side, back) and we’ll give you our opinion.

If you have the right size but the Z-Trek shape doesn’t quite match your foot… CUT IT! That’s right, you can trim the Z-Trek with a good pair of kitchen scissors. To finish the edge cleanly, try some sandpaper. Don’t cut off too much, too soon, though. Take off just a bit, and then see how you did. Remember, you can’t UN-cut.

If you’re a man with a very narrow foot, you may be better in the “women’s” style. Conversely, women with very wide feet, or over a size 10, should check the sizing for he “men’s” products.

What can I do in the Z-Trek?

Pretty much anything you want. Take a walk on the beach, a hike in the woods, hang out with friend, stroll around the campsite, approach a climb, paddle a canoe, run a marathon…

I’m not sure that Z-Trek, or any sandal for that matter, is right for lateral motion sports, like tennis or basketball.

So, use your common sense and HAVE FUN!

Can I adjust the Z-Trek lacing across the toes?

You sure can. Just slide the webbing through the slots on the outside of the sole to get the tension you like.

Note: A lot of our customers report that they like the toe strap looser than they thought they would. Experiment and see what you like best.

What’s the difference between Men’s and Women’s Z-Trek?

The women’s Z-Trek is a bit narrower, and the webbing is 4mm thinner.

So if you have a narrow foot, whether you’re a man or woman, you may want to check the “women’s” sizing templates and see how those work for you. Similarly, if you have a wider foot, regardless of your gender, check out the “men’s” templates.

Too big

I printed out the size guide and my toes fit perfectly in the lines. When I received the sandals there was about 4 cm more sole longer than my longest toe. Not sure the best way to size. The sandals look really comfortable and I was excited to try them.

Not for sensitive heels

A perfect sandal... just not for feet with sensitive skin. The microrough texture of the inner sole creates a horrible and unbearable burning sensation in my heel after wearing them. I've been wearing barefoot for years and it only happens to me with these. I must have very thin skin on the heel, as the sole looks very normal to the touch, but my heel can't take it 🙁

Awesome barefoot sandals

I'm pretty new to barefoot shoes and sandals, and I was a tad sceptical at first despite the raving reviews. But I was also a bit desperate for a comfortable pair of sandals to wear in the city and on walks/beaches/hikes, so I ordered these. I'm honestly hooked. They're super comfortable - no wearing in period required. These sandals walk the line between feeling everything under your feet but nothing too spiky or sharp to the point of hurting you poking through. The straps are surprisingly good to keeping my feet exactly where they should be on the soles. The only adjustment I'd maybe make to future versions is to remove the small ridge between flat sole and heel cap on the foot-facing side of the sole - for some reason my heels get a little irritated from it - though I have to admit, this was after an 8km walk, so maybe this one's on me 😉

good shoe, but didn't fit my feet

I think these are nice shoes, but no matter how I adjusted the laces, I never stood well in on the sole. Especially me heel would always slip onto the raised edge. I triple-checked that it wasn't a size problem. They just don't fit my feet. So just as a heads-up to people: They might just not be for your footshape of the way you walk. So test them inside carefully. Luckily I took some time testing them indoors and got a refund - quick and friendly customer service.
