Poor grip on wet surfaces

The upper and the sole both are a bit more “sturdy” than I anticipated. But these are my first pair of Xeros so its just my expectation was different. The key issue I have with these shoes intended for wet trails is that the grip they offer is quite poor on wet/slice surfaces that are hard. I had to stop using them defeating the very purpose I’d bought them for.

Very stiff

I returned the pairs I ordered. The upper was very stiff, not what I usually experienced with Xero. If your feet fit perfectly into the upper - you will be fine. I could not make them work.

Not quite as malleable as other Xero Shoes

My first thought trying the shoe on was ”wow, this shoe is pretty firm”. I feel like the shoes are starting to break in after a fee long walks, but it’s definitely still much stiffer than the other Xero models I have. I have two pairs of the regular Mesa Trails and they were much more comfortable right from the start. There are also some quality issues: the eyelets for the laces are a bit small for how thick the lace is. And the part on the middle of the tongue that the lace is supposed to go through is in a weird position relative to the eyelets, and I ended up relacing without using that, because it was constricting my foot. It’s not a bad shoe, but if I had known beforehand how stiff it was, I would’ve waited for a softer waterproof model before buying.

First Xero

They are comfortable under foot and generally ok. I reckon my feet are wider than the shoe accommodates, but I can wear them in. My only gripe is that they "bite" a little at the fold in the top as I walk. A softer upper layer, one not so stiff, might solve the issue. But I'm hoping I can break them in with use. I'd say a seven out of ten for my first experience.
