My first barefoot shoe experience

The Scrambler Low EV is my first experience with a barefoot shoe. I started out too fast, and injuries came fast, but that was my mistake. I see it as the shoe revealing my weaknesses in my feet, legs, and hips. After some time (approximately 2-3 months) to adapt by just walking in them, I can comfortably walk and run in them, and they feel great!! I also bought another Xero shoe for daily wear, as I couldn't find another brand of shoe that fits comfortably anymore ... My advice: be open to it and be patient. It is certainly worth it!

Xero came very close to being the perfect minimalist trail shoe... But no

I had the previous model of the Scrambler Low (non-EV), and the fabric didn’t take long to wear out at the junction with the side reinforcements in the front creases. Otherwise, it was a perfect shoe for running on hard, rocky terrain and for a wide foot like mine. The fit was perfect, and the protection was just right. However, the lugs on the Michelin sole didn’t last long either, and the shoe quickly lost its grip. Despite this, I was quite satisfied with them. That’s why I was really excited about this new EV model, which reinforces the upper fabric and seems to have a sole that’s more resistant to abrasion. Finally, the perfect minimalist trail shoe! I bought size 43 (like the previous ones), and when I put them on, they felt narrower in the toe box. Thinking it was just my initial impression, I tested them on a 15 km mountain run. The shoes came back looking brand new, but they were definitely very uncomfortable for my little toes, and I even had to walk downhill. Indeed, they are narrower. The fit has changed. Since they were used, a return wasn’t possible, but the Xero team is fantastic and allowed me to exchange them for store credit. So, I bought size 43.5. They arrived, and they’re longer than I need, but the width is just right for my foot. What I’ve done is add two insoles to reduce the extra space, which isn’t exactly an ideal fix. In summary: If you have a narrow foot, these will be the best trail shoes you’ll find. If you have a wide foot like mine… we’ll have to keep searching.

Most confortable Xeros I own!

I have been wearing Xero shoes for hiking and daily wear for over 3 years. These are the most comfortable ones I own, now, esp. for hiking. They have a better grip than the standard Xero sole, and the slight increase in thickness makes for a nicer foot feel after a day on hard soil & rocks.

Slow shipping, imperfect sizing, but otherwise great!

Shipping took a bit long. I also wasn’t sure how to size it, and I think I could have safely gone down half a size. I wear 45 in other shoes, bought these 44.5, but I think 44 would be a better fit. But even going down to 44 I think that the feel, midfoot are quite wide, and unfortunately there are no women’s this size. All that said, the shoe is still great and I will definitely become a repeat customer.
